Q1. What is the role of WBSSC in government recruitment?
Ans: The commission's work starts after getting recruitment requests from government departments. It invites applications, conducts examinations/interviews, document verification and nominates candidates to the departments for appointment.
Q2. Does the commission give appointment to candidates?
Ans: The commission will not appoint candidates. It only selects candidates through a transparent process and nominates candidates to the appointing authority, who will issue the appointment orders.
Q3. Is any receipt issued on submission of applications?
Ans: A receipt with Application number can be obtained if application is submitted online or through Tathya Mitra Kendra. No receipt is issued on submission of applications by post or at the office of WBSSC
Q4. What are the documents to be submitted with the application?
Ans: Do not submit any document along with the application. Documents of shortlisted candidates will be verified at the time of document verification as per schedule published on the web.
Q5. How and when are certificates verified?
Ans. As a matter of policy the commission is not asking candidates to submit any proof of their eligibility for the post they are applying for. So candidates are advised not to submit any copy of documents along with the application. Information submitted by candidates is accepted as true. However after publication of results candidates would be called to present to the commission original documents to prove that they are eligible for the posts they have applied for. If they fail to prove that their names will not be sent to the appointing authority. They are also liable to face legal action for making wrong declarations while applying.
Q6. What should be the valid date for certificates for Document Verification?
Ans: A candidate should possess all qualifications mentioned in the advertisement on the date he is applying. So all certificates to be produced during DV should be on or before the date of application.
Q7. How can the examination fee and processing fee be paid?
Ans. 1. While applying online, examination fee of Rs.200/ and processing fee of Rs 20/ can be paid through credit/debit card or net banking.
2. For online applications made at the Tathya Mitra Kendra payment can be made at the counter
3. For offline applications payment will have to be made at post offices with e-payment facility
Q8. How to apply online?
Ans. Online applications can be made from any computer connected to the net by paying examination fee and processing fee with credit/debit card or through net banking of any bank. Online applications can also be made through any Tathya Mitra Kendra with the assistance of the staff there.
Q9. How to apply offline?
Ans. To apply offline down load application form from the website, pay examination fee and processing fee at any post office with e-payment facility, paste the signed e-payment receipt on the second page of the application form and send by post to Secretary, WBSSC by post or drop in the box kept at WBSSC office. Offline application facility is available only for posts where it is stated so.
Q10.What are the methods of applying?
Ans. Applications can be made 1. Online from any computer with internet connection.
2. Through Tathya Mitra Kendra
3. Offline by filling up applications downloaded from the net or purchased from Tathya Mitra Kendra, for posts for which offline application is allowed.
Q11. What are the services available at the Tathya Mitra Kendra?
Ans: 1. Online application can be made with assistance of the staff.
2. Examination fee and processing fee can be paid at the counter for those online applications.
3. Offline application form can be purchased on payment of Rs.6/
4. Get download duplicate admit cards for Rs.5/
Q12. Can the fees be paid through postal order, draft or cheque?
Ans: debit or net banking in case of online applications, at the counter in case of applications through Tathya Mitra Kendra and by e-payment at post offices in case of offline applications.
Q13. What is application Number and Roll Number?
Ans: Application number is given for all the applications received at the commission. Roll number is given to candidates who are issued admit cards. Application number is important till you get the admit card and after that the Roll number.
Q14. What happens if I forget the Application and Roll number?
Ans. It is important to remember both these numbers as they are needed for any correspondence with the commission or downloading admit card, checking results etc. In case of losing the number email may be sent to the commission and commission will try to help.
Q15. Will I be allotted a centre of my choice?
Ans Commission would normally allot candidates to centres according to their choice. However number of centres, availability of seats at any centre would depend on number of applications from a particular district for an examination. So at times candidates may not get centres of their choice.
Q16. Will the examination and processing fee be refunded in case of wrong application?
Ans. Examination and processing fee once deposited will not be refunded.
Q17. What is 'Exempted Category'?
Ans. Exempted Category is another category like SC, ST, OBC etc for whom government provides reservation in recruitment to government jobs. It includes various kinds of people as notified by the government. Details are available in the Government Notification No 301-EMP/1M 10/2000-21st August 2002 issued by Labour Dept. (See under 'Commission', 'Govt. Notifications', and 'Notifications on Recruitment).
Q18. Are all categories exempted from paying examination fee under 'Exempted Category'?
Ans. Not at all. Actually 'Exempted Category' candidates are not exempted from paying examination fee, unlike SC, ST and some PH candidates.
Q19. Who certifies candidates under 'Exempted Category'?
Ans. 'Exempted Category' certificates are issued only by the office of the Exempted Category Cell of Directorate of Employment, West Bengal, 67, Bentinck Street, 3rd Floor, Kolkata-69
Q20. Who are all eligible under 'Exempted Category'?
Ans. Government notifies people coming under 'exempted Category'. As per current notification dependents of government staff dying while in service (died in harness), family of land losers, ex-census employees, dependents of persons retiring incapacitated etc. come under Exempted Category.
Q21. What is' MSP'?
Ans. MSP stands for Meritorious Sports Persons who have represented the country, state, university or school in certain sports items for which government provides reservation in recruitment.
Q22. Who issues certifies for 'MSP' category?
Ans. Certificates for MSP can be issued only by the persons mentioned and should be in the Performa prescribed by the government in Labour department notification dated April 4,2011 (See under 'Commission', 'Govt. Notifications', and 'Notifications on Recruitment). Certificates in any other Performa issued by any other authority will not be valid.
Q23. What will happen if a candidate is not able to produce necessary certificates?
Ans. If a candidate is not able to produce certificates for all qualifications and categories claimed in the application the candidature will be rejected and not considered for nomination.
Q24. What is One Time Registration?
Ans. One Time Registration is a facility provided to candidates that will be of help them to store their data in the commission server and facilitates filling up applications and getting alerts from the commission.
Q25. What is registration number?
Ans. Registration number is allotted to anybody registering under One Time Registration. This number will help you to fill up future applications.
Q26. What are the advantages of One Time Registration?
Ans. 1. 'Auto fill' up of application forms by entering Registration number.
2. No need to upload photo and signature every time of applying.
3. Get SMS and email alerts from the commission.
Q27. Can fill up application form without One Time Registration?
Ans. Yes, application can be filled up without Registering. However it will be easier to apply in future if you register once.
Q28. Can I make changes in data after registration?
Ans. Yes you can make changes in most of the data after logging in with user ID and password.
Q29. What will happen if I forget the One Time Registration password?
Ans. There is an option to regenerate Registration password on the One Time Registration page.
